This is an actual mineral and not just a color. I've seen jewelry made from it but can't find a source for the raw materials.

i don't know if this is what you are looking for or not. these are loose jet beads.

Or you could just order from Rio Grande. They'll want you to be a jewelry professional to order, but that should be the only trouble you'll have (there's no minimum order or crazy crap like that). Their site's at www.riogrande.com and they operate out of New Mexico, so your stuff should get to you pretty quick. Hoover and Strong is also quite good to order from, with the same restriction on their customers being in the industry. They're in New England somewhere. Their site is www.hooverandstrong.com

you have to pay 40 bucks and then a lot for supplies…. but you make a big profit when you make the earrings and send them in. do they always buy them from you or are they not good quality?? does anybody know anything about this??

It's a scam. It's one of the classic work at home scams. Whatever you make it will not be good enough and they will want you to spend more and more money to get your stuff up to their quality. You never get paid, they just try to get you to spend more and more money. Here are a couple links:

http://jobsearch.about.com/cs/workathomehelp/a/homescam.htm

Type "work at home scams" into the yahoo search box and you'll find even more information.

Do you know of any good sites that have lessons or tutorials on making jewelry? Specifically, polymer clay items? Looking for details on putting elements together, such as jump rings, wire, etc.

There is a fabulous site called Polymer Clay Central

http://www.polymerclaycentral.com

That has a "clay encyclopedia" a bunch of tutorials, lots of pictures of very nice polymer clay artwork, and a message board with lots of nice people to answer any questions you might have!

I have been attracted to Direct Sales/Party Plan companies for a long time. I have also joined quite a few of them, Arbonne, Heritage Makers, Homemade Gourmet and Pampered Chef (years ago). With Arbonne I became District Manager pretty quickly but didn't have any business builders so it was very hard to keep that title without spending my own money. I also found it hard to get parties. I have always wanted to replace my RN salary (80K+) I know it will take a lot. I want to grow a team. I'm looking into Pampered Chef again. It seems that people are more willing to buy those types of products all year round. I also love a jewelry company that has photo pendants but have heard its hard getting bookings/sales after the holidays. I'm not a natural sales person but know I can do it but also want a fairly easy product that is easy to sell and get bookings. I'd like some honest answers to what you are really making and what has worked best for you. Thanks!

I am with pampered chef. I love it. I think it is one of the easiest things to sell as it a great product.

If you have done PC you know how it works and how well most people respond to the product.

The kit is newer and better with great stuff in it now. Of course the kit price has gone up but I know I made that back after my first show. Totally worth it.

If you want more info or are looking for a great team to sign up with please email me.

Okay so after wasting $350.00 on a necklace that wasn't even real on my birthday, I lost it, and I'm sick of wasting money on jewelry and it breaking, going out of style, or me losing it. So I have come to the desicion that I'm gonna make my own jewelry I do have a couple friends that make jewelry, but I wanna ask what are good websites/stores (preferbly in Virginia) that I can buy on-line or buy at stores for beads (not childish ones) and for chains and all the other equiment required. I also wanna know what are the best kinds of equiments to use, good books that help me out with paterns, and whatever other information you may think is useful.

The easiest of jewelry making to get started with is beading. Many projects can be made from inexpensive glass, ceramics, wood and even cow bone set in fancy colored wires and metal findings. You then will graduate to a little more expensive stone and semi-precious stones, with silver or gold findings. All the tools you will initially need can be purchased for under $75.00.

For the beginner go to www.beadstylemag.com (Bead Style Magazine) or any of the sister publications by Kalmbach Publishing Company. These can be bought at Michael's or Joann's Fabrics as well as supplies and tools. In the back of their mags there is a continuing series of tool, bead and finding identification and how to use them.

There is also a calender of events and locations of stores that sell beading supplies. I counted 9 in Virginia alone! There is a myriad of retailers and wholesalers with web sites, There is also schedules of bead shows that have several circuits they follow.

I have been a silver smith for over 30 years as an avocation and have turned my hobby into a minor source of income. These days I have been working in PMC (Precious Metal Clay) that you will read about in the publications.

I love making unique bracelets and stuff. Like a toothbrush bracelet? I made one the other day and had to go get more to make them for people.
And other ideas that would involve not a lot of money, maybe recycling, and no beads?
Thannkss

I would love to see the toothbrush bracelet.
I have seen bracelets made out of candy wrappers, those were really neat. Also the bottle tops from soda or beer in glass bottles.

Here are some instructions I found when I googled it.

Hi i recently started making jewelry with swarovski crystal beads. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website or catalogue i can buy them wholesale for a cheaper price.

Wow! It looks like you've already gotten several good answers. I have a catalog that I like ~ it's Fire Mountain Gems
http://www.firemountaingems.com/crystal_beads.asp
Contact them, and they'll send you one! Even if their prices don't meet your expectations (which I think they will), they do have a lot of neat ideas pictured in it, too! Good luck~
