Bead and Button Magazine’s website has lots of projects and tutorials. About.com’s beading and jewelry sites both have patterns, tutorials and ideas for beginners. Fire Mountain Gems is a webstore with an extensive help and project section. These are all good places to start. After you learn a few basic techniques you can let your imagination take over. I have been on a search for a headstall that I must have, but I can’t find it. I have never seen one like the one I want, so I’m considering using a headstall and I dress it up like I want. Has anyone ever tried this? Anyone have ideas about where I can get materials? Anyone ever use one of those pre-teen jewelry making kits for something like this?

Here is the headstall I want for you curiosity. A dark oil headstall with a v brow band with a tassel or something hanging from the v brow. I want pretty bling with turquoise accents. I want something very flashy and almost Native American looking meets old West.

Any thoughts or ideas?
Chelsea your link didn’t work.
Thanks for you answer!

Charlotte, I can make your custom headstall for you. Email me directly and we can discuss details. I would expect the ‘pre-teen jewelry’ stuff to fall off, discolor, and generally look like crap within a couple months, tops, if you use it at all. I can get better quality stones and bling that are designed to take the weather and abuse of being around horses. (sometimes I feel pretty abused myself, working with these wonderful creatures)

Drop me a line.

Does anyone know of a site where I can buy gold beads for jewelry making. I only seem to find sterling and gold filled, but I want actual 10kt or 14kt gold beads of all shapes. If you know of a site please direct me. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am going to make resin jewelry but I have not done it before. Does anyone have any tips about any online sites to buy supplies, any tutorials, or just general advice? Thanks so much.

First, you’ll want to understand what *type* of clear resin you’ll need for making the kind of jewelry you want. Then you’ll want to understand just how to use craft resins, and use them safely.

There’s loads of info on all those things in these posts I’ve written at Craftster about starting to use clear resins, if you want to check them out:

and perhaps:

And there’s even more info/tutorials/etc on the page that’s listed below under "Sources".

My boyfriend of 2 years just brokeup with me. I’m reallyyy heartbroken over it and I want him back so bad but he won’t take me back. We brokeup because we argued alot. Tonight, he is dropping off my ring in my mail box (he works at a jewelry store so he fixes my broken jewelry). I don’t know if it would be a good idea to leave my homemade photo album in there of our relationship to hopefully win him back, or am i just going to waste my time by giving it to him?
i made him the photo album because he is leaving for school at the end of august. i’m not making one specially for our breakup. its already made

It’s understandable why you’d want to leave it. But I personally think he couldn’t care less and you’ll be wasting your time - and it’ll end up hurting more when it doesn’t change anything.

I make handmade jewelry - mostly beaded works (beadweaving with seed beads & crystals) which sometimes have sterling silver clasps.

I’d like to sell my jewelry but have a concern.

The thing is…..I smoke and am concerned of the jewelry smelling like smoke. (of course I don’t smell anything because I am a smoker)

Any tips on how to remove cigarrette smoke smell out of my jewelry? (keep in mind they are beads, crystals, nylon thread,, and sometimes sterling silver clasps)

I really doubt the smell is on the beads, I wouldn’t worry so much about it. But if it really bothers you perhaps you could wipe them down with a baby wipe.=)

I would like to start making pendants out of resin, but would like to know how to attach it to a bail without drilling a hole into the pendant, is there an easy way? not sure how to add it to the necklace, but if drilling is a must, is it a difficult process and what kind of drill would i use? thanks in advance

You don’t have to drill, although that’s usually the most secure way to fasten. You can buy bails that are designed to be glued on. The links are to examples from ‘Fire Mountain Gems’ (a great supply house), but Michael’s and other stores that sell craft and jewelry supplies likely have them, too.

I recently bought a wire twister for the jewelry I make, and I can’t even begin to figure out how it works. The instructions it came with were wet and I can’t read them. It is a 6" Cal-Hawk. How does it work?

Hi Sarah

You can create earrings with them. Buy some beads and add them.

Use your creativity. And do something creative.

And please show me what you create. I am waiting.

Best of luck.
