You mean the little ring that holds the pendant on the chain? I have heard them called jump rings and findings.

Anyone know some kind of rocks or minerals that is an orange crystal that kooks alot like dmt crystals I could use to make like a necklace.

Calcite is orange and comes in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, from points to polished cabs. It’s very easy to find and inexpensive and makes up into very nice wire wrapped pieces. There’s also aventurine, Amber, Wulfenite and topaz. All are available as points, tumbled stones, drilled chips and polished rounds. http://www.crystalsandjewelry.com/stoneid-oranges.html

crystals and other semi precious stones have power when charged. A fake stone, lets say made out of plastic will not have any impact.
So choose a semi precious stone of color. Quartz crystal, rose crystal for love, onyx (black) for grounding etc.

I make handmade jewelry - mostly beaded works (beadweaving with seed beads & crystals) which sometimes have sterling silver clasps.

I’d like to sell my jewelry but have a concern.

The thing is…..I smoke and am concerned of the jewelry smelling like smoke. (of course I don’t smell anything because I am a smoker)

Any tips on how to remove cigarrette smoke smell out of my jewelry? (keep in mind they are beads, crystals, nylon thread,, and sometimes sterling silver clasps)

I really doubt the smell is on the beads, I wouldn’t worry so much about it. But if it really bothers you perhaps you could wipe them down with a baby wipe.=)

Bead Hub has classes for making jewellry as well as the materials.

For just materials, you might want to visit People’s Park Centre at Chinatown. There’s a store next to the BATA shop that sells alot of beads at Level 1. There is another one on the 2nd floor, most prominently seen if you are walking across the overhead bridge from Chinatown Point to People’s Park Centre.

Other places you can look for is at Arab street. But I recommend that you visit those at Chinatown as they have more choices as well as pre-packed beads for your creation.

Here’s a list of the quite well-known shops. Hope it’ll be of more help.

eg there is a company called fire mountain beads in america which sells everything, beads, crystals, findings, silver clay but then you have to pay customs charges and its not worth delivery if only ordering small quantities. I cant seem to find a uk company that sells everything at a reasonable price.

try these:

www.beadsunlimited.co.uk
www.craftkitsuk.com/jeweller1.htm
www.ideas-un-limited.co.uk/catalog/default.php
www.beads.co.uk
www.jillybeads.co.uk

…or search on beads and findings in www.google.co.uk

You can cover your items with coffee in a paper lined container. Both will absorb the odors.

If you sell your items you will need new and uncontaminated packaging items because many buyers are allergic or offended by smoke odors. Also, many people, like myself cannot inhale many perfumes or other odors. So odor free is the way to go.

Also use a little windex on the silver to take the nicotine off. It won’t harm your thread or other beads.

I make jewelry a little and I know different people enjoy crystals but I want the rigid kind. The ones that look more natural like pulled right out of the ground instead if the ones that have been cut and turned into beads (which is basically the kind I find in the craft store). I don’t know any local museums that have them (but I will look into it later) and I’ll check the craft stores in person but while I’m there should I go ahead and purchase a crystal growing kit? I know there expensive so I would most likely buy the cheapest one especially if the kit is a one time use thing. But then I have the problem of trying to break or mine th crystal into a charm or bead. So should I go ahead and buy the kit or settle for crystal beads?

Crystal rocks are extremely fragile. I remember making them in a glass bowl & telling our kids not to touch it or bump it, because they will disintegrate into pieces.

* Magic Rocks are not non-toxic. The ingredients are harmful if swallowed, plus they are a skin and eye irritant. That makes them unsuitable for very young children. Keep them away from pets, too. It is safe to rinse the materials down the drain, but clean-up is a little more critical than with non-toxic projects.
* You can get poor results if you don’t adhere to the instructions. If the rocks are too close together, your crystals will look flat and uninteresting. If your water is too warm or too cold your crystals will be too spindly too support themselves or will be stunted.
* The instructions don’t explain the science behind how Magic Rocks work. In case you are wondering, you aren’t really growing crystals in this project. You are precipitating colored metal salts. It’s still awesome.
