Any websites, videos, or books for making earrings, necklaces or bracelets? Maybe something you have personally tried and found helpful

Make some paper beads, it doesn’t need to be from fancy expensive paper, junk mail will do. Then string them for a necklace, earrings or whatever you like.

ok so i love beading like i said i love making bracelets and necklaces with pretty beads and stuff i also have to fundraise quite some money for a trip i am am going on next summer so i just wanted to know if any of you had some ideas on how i can make bracelets and use that as a way to fundraise money any ideas???

First check out the different sites that let you sell your own crafts. See what is involved, see if you would like to display your craft on more than one site. Here is an article about the different sites: athomemomblog.com/where-to-sell-crafts-…

Next check out places to sell it near home. Art fairs, craft fairs, church bazaars. They are advertising now for crafters to rent space for their Xmas fairs and bazaars, and advertising the event itself. Check your local newspaper, and check places like the yard in front of local churches.
And if you can get to a craft event, or have experienced one, all the better. You will learn or already know what sells, and what doesn’t.

Check your bead store for holiday things, a friend puts together little tiny snowmen earrings, and other holiday items. The higher priced independently owned bead store in town carries all kinds of things like that to make holly, Xmas trees, etc. I bought a pair of little dangle earrings at the craft fair, they look like bitty presents. Really cute, and $5.

Which brings me to merchandising. I go every year to the high school, our local band and orchestra builders have a huge craft fair. They rent booths out to crafters. The booth where I bought the earrings, she is there every year, she seems to sell out before lunch. She has a sign "proceeds given to cancer ____." So if your trip is school related, or a study program, I would think that a tasteful small sign that said "saving for class trip to Italy" might be in order. The event might have rules, but for me, if the business people can put out info on their business, you should be able to put out a sign about a school event.
The cancer fund lady had each pair in a nice box the top off and the box set into it, the earrings caught in the cotton so they would stay put, and all she did is take the money, put the lid on the top of box, and say thanks.

So, experiment around with style and color of your bracelets, and keep careful track of how much each one costs, figure out how many bracelets you would have to sell to cover the cost of a booth or web site, and add more money to the cost for your profit. Then see how many bracelets you would have to sell to make money.

the other way is to simply make it known to friends and family you have jewelry for sale, and you will sell some. If it is really cute and fun, you will sell more.

A friend makes bracelets out of leftover beads and elastic. She gave the as presents at her daughter’s shower, and gives them as gifts. Watch for sales, and start out producing your jewelry for less.

Rivers uses Beadalon, some crimping beads, and a clasp for her bracelets. There are so many ways and materials out there. Go to the websites where people sell jewelry, and see what designs and materials the competition uses.

Good luck…..

http://www.photojewelrymaking.com lets you personalize all sorts of jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, charms, belt buckles, keychains, etc.) with pictures. You could buy in bulk and start your own little fancy photograph and picture fundraiser. You could use a digital camera and take the person’s picture (or the photo they already have) and encase it into the special jewelry that you bought. Charge them ten bucks and you’re on your way to your summer trip. Especially with people looking for unique Christmas gift ideas.

I have been making hemp jewelry, keychains, bracelets, and even bows. I would like to add my items on etsy or create a blog, but I need a name for my store. Any suggestions?

I would like something short and cheerful; I wouldn’t like to use the word jewelry.

Thanks!

You can always just make a friendship bracelet with red/gold strings, or any beaded bracelet with red/gold beads.

I make jewelry out of beads and things. A couple of people have bought them. How can I get more people to buy my things without spending money on a website creator?? I’m 13, so I can’t buy a ton of things.

Etsy or Ebay…lots of websites like that! :)
Just make sure to get your parents permission, and you might have to sign up under their name.
Good luck :)

I asked one of my classmates at college about her bracelet, wanting to know where she got it from.

I didn’t expect the answer lol, that it was made from the bones of her grandparents. She is from Haiti so I guess this may be a cultural thing.

What do you think of this?

Years ago, it was customary right here in America for mothers to preserve a child’s first lost baby tooth, and have it fitted in a little gold ring. While this and other pieces of jewelry made from human remains may seem "creepy," it really is a cultural thing, and a perfectly acceptable part of one’s heritage.

I personally wouldn’t wear such a bracelet or ring, but I’m not from Haiti, and this is not a part of my culture. I’m sure it’s a lovely bracelet, and wearing it may bring comfort, and a connection to her grandparents. Nothing wrong with that.

So, for a project, I’m making jewelry out of as many recyclable materials as possible. Problem is, I dont know what recyclable items would be good to make jewelry out of. (The jewelry would include, bracelets, necklaces, rings, NOT EARRINGS.) Does anyone have any ideas of recyclable items found around the house to make jewelry out of? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Plastic butter lids can make stiff patterns for material cut-outs.
The pop top rings from pop cans can be woven together for a flexible bracelet, necklace or belt
Buttons glued on fabric or sewn together make interesting bracelets–many are beautiful. Also the older buttons make cool charms on bracelets.
Make dough out of old bread and glue and use as modeling clay and design your own beads, just remember to make holes in them before they dry for threading them They can then be painted and sealed.
Rolling up paper into beads and glue them as rolled can also make beads and there is already a hole through them.

Think about also makinp Pins as well as earrings, and hair decorations on hairpins, the backs for both clip and pierced are available in craft stores and a dab of E6000 will hold it in place. Pretty buttons make great original pins and earrings. Also consider making rings out of craft or copper wire and wire wrap your beads for funky original rings to match outfits and shoes.
What about your purse and embelishing it to match each wardrobe?
Be creative and think large and all manner of possiblilities open up.
Have fun
