So cute but I can’t justify the price. Anyone know of good places to find beads like this?

I’m looking for plain silver/gold plated necklaces for making my own jewellery. I’ve seen some 16" ones but I was hoping for some 18" ones.

I’ve found quite a few cute and quirky charms for them but if anyone knows where there are some more I’d be infinitely grateful :)

Thanks in advance.

Most major art stores have a great selection of jewelry making stuff bc its becoming so popular.

I am starting to make necklaces, keychains, earrings, rings and I was wondering where I can buy chains and stuff like that in bulk for cheap?

don’t know what you classify as cheap, but the last time I did anything jewelry wise I got all my supplies from Wal-Mart’s art and craft area. I spent less than $20 and managed to make 3 pair of earrings and a bracelet for the Mrs.

I’ve already learned how to make risen glitter necklaces and bracelets, comic book covered bracelets, glass domed necklaces, and painted domino necklaces. I’ve seen a post about making Starburst chain comic book bracelets and I’m looking into that. Any other interesting jewelry ideas? Thanks.

Also check out polymer clay (Premo, Fimo, Kato, Sculpey, etc).

Almost any look can be achieved with polymer clay for making jewelry of all colors, sizes, and shapes (including the making of "fauxs" like faux wood/metal/ivory/pearl/jade/turquoise, etc), plus all kinds of other materials can be used with it, on it, in it, etc, including many from around the house.
In other words, the jewelry can look vastly different depending on which colors, techniques, etc, are used, so you could never do "everything" that could be done with polymer clay.

Here are just some random possibilities:

And if you’re interested in seeing many more possibilities plus learning to do them, check out at least the 4 main "jewelry" pages are my site (although pages covering the actual techniques for patterns and more will be on their own pages):

Cute little things like that.(:
Since its already summer, I have tons of free time. I really don’t feel like getting a job or anything.. But I still have a want list. So I figured I might just make cute little crafts to sell.(:
Can anyone tell me what to make them from, the basic things I’ll need.. Stuff like that?
Also, the chains. I have no idea where I could get some. I would need a pack of ten or so and the supplies to be cheap enough to sell the pieces for $5 or so. I don’t live by a craft store, so it has to be either off a website or at Walmart.. Please let me know. ANYTHING can help.(:
I’ll even take suggestions for what could be cute, something you would buy, something someone you know would buy, or something that might be popular.(:

I am not sure but there are patterns out for making crochet jewelry.

I’ve been experimenting with making necklaces, and I think I’m finally good enough to start selling one or two on etsy. The only thing is, I’ve just been using whatever images I came across on google, without even asking permission. I know that if I want to sell the necklaces, I could get in trouble because I’m using their things for "commercial purposes". So my question is, what on the internet is safe to use? Are there any places I could see free pictures that I can use with my jewelry? or buy them? Thanks for your help, sorry if this is confusing.

What you’re looking for are royalty free images. You can find pictures licensed under creative commons or in the public domain, and use them as they author allows. http://www.sxc.hu/ has a lot of free stock images, but make sure you check the license to see what you can or cannot do with it. :)

What is the piece that attaches the string to the clasp called? Im making necklaces but dont have this piece so I cant attach the clasps but I do’t know what it is called! Not the jump ring, but the piece that is attached to the string. Other variations are alright, just not crimp beads. Thanks!

Calottes (also known as Clamshell Crimps, Bead Tips, Knot Cups and Necklace Ends) combined with beading string and jewelry making wire to give a professional touch to your hand made beaded jewelry.
They are metal, part of your jewelry making findings and cover the knot or crimp bead at the end of a beaded strand.
Calottes, bead tips have a hole at the base of the two halves this allows the thread to go through.

I live in Ohio (US) and was wondering where to find bails to make necklaces. Can they be found at Joann Fabrics? Cause I looked online, but they don’t show them.

I checked three of the most popular craft stores and this is what I found.

I want to start making my own jewelry, but I don’t want it to look cheap. I don’t want it to look like something my 10 year old cousin made with a string and some beads. I want it to look similar to something I could find at Forever 21.

I mainly want to make necklaces and bracelets.

What supplies do I need (and how will I be able) to make necklaces and bracelets?

Thanks!
~K.

I took a quick look at Forever 21. They have some really great looks to choose from!

If you have a Michael’s craft store close to you, they have some actual kits that look really, really classy. I’d go with one kit first. Some of them come with the tools you might need and will teach you how to attach your findings and string your beads/make your chains.

I don’t like to work with plastic beads. I sometimes make my own from polymer clay. When I do buy, they have to be extremely eye catching, and your craft stores will have something nice to work with.

Findings are another thing you have to have. Findings cover clasps, pins, crimps, earring hooks, pendant bails, and more.

I’d like to suggest a place called etsy.com. Etsy has a supplier comminuty for those of us who do a lot of home crafting. When you search, make sure you search using the suppliers from the pull-down menu. Etsy sellers offer the best prices, and you can pick up some of your metal chains and metal pendants (wings, dragonflies, bezels, and on and on and on) for a great price.

Have fun. Find yourself a classy kit first, learn the basics, and keep going. Right now, I’m crocheting wire and making viking knit jewelry and making some of my own findings, which really expands the styles that you can use and cuts down on expense. Findings can really make your pocket too light.

Oh, oh, oh. I forgot. Check out caning polymer clay on YouTube. Making your own beads with this method is fun and the advanced techniques can be amazing.

It’s also called millefiori - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1I7GGLL_en&q=millefiori+polymer+clay&aq=f&aqi=g2&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

There’s some google links for you to look at.

Just remember to budget out your purchases. It can be very addictive and very expensive if you don’t watch it, especially for your polymer clay and findings.
