what kind of wire to use?

for all of you jewelers out there…
what kind of wire (width, brand) do you use? we make swarovski crystal jewelry and all of our pieces get bent with the slightest touch.
Galvanized steel, 18 gauge, go thinner if you can. Much stronger than copper of the same diameter.
