I'm getting into crafts and jewelry making, and would like to find suppliers for assorted plastic charms to use for making bracelets and necklaces. Any sites where I can order these will be appreciated.
Other than Oriental Trading, which does not sell inexpensive plastic charms by themselves, nothing else that has been given so far can be used. I am not interested in:
Custom charms
Suppliers requiring TPIN#
Adhesive charms
Charms made with precious stones or valuable metals
I'm referring to something plastic or metal and plated with a design which has a hole at the top for a jump ring. The price range should not be more than a quarter a piece. Overseas wholesale is fine, domestic wholesale probably won't work for my purposes.
I'm not interested in toy charms of the vending machine variety. I'm making costume jewelry for a wide audience. I'm talking about the charms that are used on making necklaces and bracelets, not stuff for kids.
I'm a jewelry maker/beader. I have had great results with this company.
They carry findings and everything you could possibly need at good rate.
Their charms from what I can see run around 13 cents to start and go lower with quanity. They carry all kinds.
Good luck

2008 Nov 16 4If you want something cheap and easy, and are thinking of ordering in the region of 1000-2000+ pieces imports from china, or wholesale on Ebay are your best bet.
If you want something small and custom LoveBites and Bruises is well known for providing this service.

2008 Nov 16 7I used to work in the toy vending industry and I'm trying to remember busineses that I worked with that sold this sort of novelty. Some of these companies will work with you. When you contact Brand Imports and Toy n Joy, be sure to ask about buying "bulk toys/charms, not in capsule". (You don't want to also buy the capsule that the vending machine toy comes in)
I've also seen 3-D charms sold on eBay. Search for words like "vintage plastic vending machine charm" and you will find molded color and electroplated plastic items.

2008 Nov 16 9check out party stores and even if they don't have the particular items you are looking for, make note of manufacturers and check them out on line Also there is a company called Midwest Importers which was located in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. They have a lot of small items and may have something that will meet your needs. Only caveat is that I haven't been there for a while so am not sure if they are still there but check the internet for them too
