Jewellery making?
09 Mar 2010
hi, i was just wondering if anyone knows where i could buy a jewellery making kit from in the uk? I would love 2 start making my own jewellery but i can only find kits for children. any ideas would be much appreciated!
thanks in advance!! :o)
P.S i also prefer buying form shops rather than use online shopping, i HATE ebay! lol
I’m from Newcastle!
Do you have a Hobbycraft store near you. They are large out of town stores and stock just about any hobby and craft accessories that you can think of. Have a look in your Yellow Pages.

2010 Mar 09 3No bead shops in the UK? Here in the US we have lots of bead & craft shops. Or you could look online to find where there might be craft/bead shops in your area.

2010 Mar 09 4depends on where you are but usually you can find the smallest craft shops, i staggered across a bead shop purely by accident whilst shopping in Cambridge. Hobbycraft’s are another place you can buy things from, both kits and seperately. I know your not into online shopping but check out this website for some inspiration http://www.julesgems.com

2010 Mar 09 5I used to work in a bead shop in London called Ells & Farrier - they do lots of great kits & you can order from them online if you can’t make it to their shop. I think they’ll also let you order by the phone, they have a catalogue you can use. Their website is http://www.creativebeadcraft.co.uk. Hope this helps!

2010 Mar 09 6It really depends where in the UK you are….
For example:
+ There is a brilliant bead shop in Nottingham.
+ In Coventry you’d be best off going to HobbyCraft
+ In Lincoln, keep an eye out for the small habidashery shops..
+ John Lewis (the chain) sometimes have good bits and pieces.
+ Check out any large Garden centre’s in your area - they may just have a craft section - the one near me does..
+ Check out Gift shops also - It is the begining of Christmas for them and jewellery kits may just be comming into stock..
+ Once you get started the Works is always good (and cheep) for bits and pieces..
+ Also bear in mind that short evening courses that don’t cost much are probably available too…
So where are you based?
EXTRA::
Well if you go across to Carlisle there are two little shops - The Bead Shed, and Fun 2 Do alternatively the Garden centre (the big one by Jnc 44 M6) has a Craft central outlet downstairs…
As for Newcastle - sorry I haven’t made it over there to have a scout about - If you find any good shops, please let me know it only takes about an hour to get there!
