Twisted wire in jewelry making?
23 Mar 2009
I bought some bulk jewelry supplies and got some very fine twisted wire. It doesn't really hold it's shape very well, but it does have permanent creases if you fold it. What can I do with this? Is it just used for threading beads?
It must be that Tigertail wire. It's not the normal 24 gauge wire, but a lot smaller. Kind of looks like the thick guitar strings.
It is also used for cage wrapping stones. Twisted really tightly in patterns or tied in knots in patterns over the stones then twisted or tied into a bale for hanging works really well.
I have seen some really pretty things created out of ordinary stones this way.

2009 Mar 23 2I'm not sure what you mean by "fine twisted wire." Do you mean like tiger tail or the 49-strand stringing wire? That is just for stringing. You'll need crimps to finish it.
Or do you mean wire that's just two strands and twisted together for looks' sake? If it's at least 26ga or 28ga, it would be pretty wrapped around some larger dark beads.
