I have a pituitary tumour and am scanned every so often (MRI). The last scan results I’m told were difficult to interpret and so I have been recalled for a further scan. In the letter it makes specific reference asking me ‘to confirm I have no metal clips, pacemaker or any kind of metal implants in the body’.
Now this is a pretty standard practice checklist before I have any scan and no I have none of these and when scanned I have no jewellery make-up etc.So all of this was confirmed prior to my last set of scans the ones they cannot interpret and they are asking me to reconfirm.

I have seen MRI scans and the indication in the letter is that something similar to metal is showing on the scan but that really can’t be the case or could it ? Sounds a bit cookie but I don’t know what a body might show eg magnetic fields ?

any info anyone
thanks
edit-only had on a hopital gown and no have never had a gun shot wound
edit- I don’t wear anything in my hair either

Sorry to hear about your condition.

The actual body interfering with the magnetic field to such a degree would be rather unusual. If the problem is indeed with ONLY your scans and not with the machine it self, then maybe there’s some external factor interfering. Metal tooth fillings are generally not interfering enough to cause issues, maybe something in your clothing? Have you ever had a gunshot wound?

I can’t think of anything else that the medical staff wouldn’t have already thought of.
